When to Stay?

  • Crested Butte Mountain provides exceptional skiing and snowboarding for all skill levels and is globally renowned for its premier backcountry skiing. The towns of Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte are lively and all restaurants are generally open and require reservations.

Access to the mountain is convenient by car with paid parking available, though the preferred option is a quick, complimentary 5-minute shuttle ride from town. The shuttle stop, located just half a block from the home, runs every 10-15 minutes throughout the ski season.

In addition to skiing, winter adventures abound, including snowmobiling, ice skating, Nordic skiing, and, of course, the ultimate après-ski indulgence—relaxing in a hot tub.

  • Summer in Crested Butte offers endless outdoor adventures for every interest—hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, birdwatching, paddleboarding, golfing, and exploring the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains.

Spend your days immersed in nature and your evenings enjoying the lively atmosphere of town. June and July brings peak activity, with outdoor music festivals, performing arts, shopping, dining, and farmers' markets happening regularly.

May and early June tend to be slower and “easy” with crowds generally arriving in mid-June when all of the restaurants tend to be open and require reservations.

Mid-August brings the end of the summer season.

  • The local’s favorite season!  As summer winds down, temperatures start to drop, but the flowers are still in bloom and the real show is about to begin.

Peak leaf season is late September when the splendor of the Aspen trees is on full display.  The Town is quiet, but most of the summer activities are still available.

Most restaurants are open, yet not packed, and the pace of life is relaxing and easy.  For those outdoor enthusiasts seeking a relaxing and peaceful respite, this is the season for you.
